The exceling golfers in the different groups were rewarded with prizes that included trophies and other goodies during the prize giving ceremony held at Jaysville Bar and Grill, Namulonge. The start was so vibrant and this tournament was well received by the members with bold intentions to be held on an annual basis.

The first edition of the Jaysville Golf open championship was a complete success at the Mary Louise Simkins Golf club in Namulonge.
A large field of golfers from all walks of life brace the day-long event that was played on medal format of play.
As early as 7 am, the golfers were ready assembled on the tee-boxes in preparation for the swing-off during the event sponsored by Jaysville Bar and Grill.

Ladies:
Charity Atuhaire, the lady captain at the club won group A ladies ahead of Lillian Koowe.
In group B, Grace Bitama, playing off handicap 29 amassed 87 gross (67 Nett) to topple the rest.
Queen Kirabo (handicap 28) scored 98 Gross (70 Nett) to win on countback over Gloria Owomugisha (Handicap 19) – 89 Gross (70 Nett).

Men:
Handicap 3 golfer Alexander Matsiko won the men group A pool with 76 Gross (73 Nett – countback) ahead of Ivan Arinaitwe and Mark Rubatsimbira (74 Nett)
Marvin Ssebugwawo, handicap 19 scored 84 gross (65 Nett) to win group B.
Ssebugwawo was ahead of Albert Etuk (67 Nett) and Herbert Musinguzi (68 Nett – countback).
In group C, Dennis Katalihwa (Handicap 20) emerged top with 87 Gross (67 Nett) to win on countback over Henry Baguma.
Louis Luyima (Handicap 26) came third with 94 Gross (68 Nett).
Seniors:
The seniors’ cluster (55 years and above) was claimed by Leon Byereeta and Edrae Kagombe respectively.





Side-bets:
In the longest drive contest, Bob Matsiko and Peace Kabasweka were outstanding for the male and female clusters respectively.
Matsiko Alexander won the nearest to the pin competition (men) as Meron Kyomugisha did for the ladies.
Sponsors:
Jaysville Bar and Grill Namulonge was the main sponsor of this tournament, joined by a host of other partners.
Crown Beverages under the Pepsi brand, NARO, AWIE, Uganda Breweries Limited under the Tusker Lite brand and Munig engineering solutions limited and others also joined the party.
The after-party and prize presentation was held at the Jaysville Bar and Grill in Namulonge town with the old school dress code.
Golfers and guests parted with dancing, dining and drinking till the wee hours of the morning.


The local organizing committee of this successful tournament had Charles Lutwama, lady captain Charity Atuhaire, tournament director George Kato, among others.
The start was so vibrant and this tournament was well received by the members with bold intentions to be held on an annual basis.
The Uganda Golf Union will also gazette it on the calendar for the year 2026.
