The titanic clash between Kitende zone record champions St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende and Light High School Sseguku was played under floodlights.
This explosive duel lived up to the anticipated billing, marred with dramatic scenes, charged up atmosphere, passion, tension, epic and thrilling action that ended in a post-penalty victory.
There was a prolonged delay for kick-off to verify the players’ licenses, an exercise that left out key players for Light High School Sseguku over questions of eligibility.
Light High School Sseguku won the shoot-out 5-4, bringing to a halt St Mary’s Kitende’s two decades of dominance at the zonal level.

Normal time during this end-to-end contest had ended in a one-all draw, both goals arriving in the 9 added minutes after regulation time.
Super substitute Leonard Kasaanya scored in the 97th minute, a strike that Light High School players, officials and fans bitterly protested, alleging that the ball never crossed the line.
Ugly scenes erupted with some Light High School officials storming the field of play towards the match officials and some fans threw water bottles onto the field of play.
The unrest took about a quarter of an hour before calmness was restored and play resumed under the referee Allan Musisi.
Ikoona Kizza curled home a beautiful free-kick from 30 yards past St Mary’s Kitende goalkeeper Siraje Etuuta for the equalizer that was well celebrated as the match was to be decided in spot kicks.
During the dramatic shootout, both teams missed their first two kicks.
St Mary’s Kitende captain Ibrahim Ssebagala had his shot stopped by goalkeeper Gilbert Mazige.

Light High School Sseguku also missed their opening kick when Dante Chewe witnessed his shot saved by the St Mary’s goalkeeper Etuuta.
