Centennials players celebrate

Overview:

The atmosphere was electric, with supporters, alumni, and guests turning out in large numbers to witness the culmination of a league that has fast become a cultural staple among Kitovu Old Boys.

Old students, friends and well-wishers of St Henry’s College Kitovu (SHACK) gathered at the St Lawrence University playgrounds in Ndeeba for the grand climax of the second season for the SHACK league.

The breeze and eye catching beauty of the nearby historic Kabaka’s lake in the vicinity precipitated the smooth progress of the lined up duels under sunny conditions.

The final day had a total of 17 duels lined up that culminated into exhilarating finals.

Sponsored by Guinness, the league has grown in both scale and spirit, delivering unmatched excitement, community impact, and unforgettable moments this season.

The Califo Kings Cup saw Centennials edge out the formidable Mbookya Warriors in a dramatic showdown.

The Bacereals led by Brian Charles Ssenyonga, also christened as “Omutegeke” triumphed over Ma Peace to lift the Gutter King’s Cup.

Season 2 was a milestone for us. We consistently kept to our matchdays without postponements, which helped grow our audience and increased match day attendance. Most importantly, we made an impact supporting sickle cell patients and giving back to our beloved college. That is the true spirit of SHACK.

Guinness, the official sponsor of the SHACK League, brought its trademark boldness and experience to every match day. The Guinness vibe was a constant crowd favourite.

“The Guinness experience this season was simply unmatched. From the football to the fellowship, the SHACK League boys embraced the bold spirit of Guinness. The reception has been phenomenal and we are proud to have walked this journey with them.”

As the dust settles on Season 2, anticipation is already building for Season 3, which kicks off in August 2025.

Fans were also treated to epic performances by Ugandan music icons including former Mr SHACK of the 80’s Ragga Dee, VINKA, and Shuffle Kings, with DJ Ed Himler, DJ Bugy, and DJ Newton keeping the energy high into the night.

There were celebrations until the wee-hours of the next morning.
