- NEC vs Kitara – Lugogo 7pm
Kitara boss Wasswa Bbosa has warned NEC that his side have ambitions to finish in the top four and thus could disrupt their pursuit of the league title.
The two sides lock horns under floodlights at Lugogo with NEC aiming to close in on leaders Vipers while Kitara wants to continue rising up the table.
“They are one of the teams pursuing the league title and have an experienced bunch of players,” said Bbosa. “But we also have our own ambitions to try and close the gap on the leading pack and finish in the top four,” he added.
Kitara comes into the game beaming with confidence after humiliating KCCA 4-0 at Royal Park Butema last weekend and the same cant be said of NEC who fired blanks at UPDF.
The hosts will miss winger Jarieko (suspension), Kelvin Barni and Shamir Kimwero (injury) but are boosted by the return of centre back Jacob Okao who will be tasked to keep the on-fire Jude Ssemugabi and Patrick Kaddu at bay.
For the visitors, George Senkaaba is available for selection after he sat out the KCCA fixture due to accumulated bookings.
The reverse fixture ended in favour of NEC who became the first side to win a league match at Butema.
NEC are four points off the summit and with leaders Vipers not in action until Friday, they will close the gap to a single point with victory.
Kitara are 5th with 35 points and will remain in the position regardless of the result at least until Saturday when KCCA host BUL at Lugogo.
In other fixtures on Thursday, SC Villa host bottom of the table Mbale Heroes while Police take on Mbarara City in a relegation six pointer at Kavumba.
