City Oilers finally got off the mark in their third game of the 2025 National Basketball League campaign, securing a hard-fought 68–62 victory over Rezlife Saints at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Wednesday.
City Oilers suffered back-to-back defeats after falling to Namuwongo Blazers and JT Jaguars in their previous two games.
Caleb Katumba’s two-point jumper capped off the first quarter, with the Oilers holding a six-point lead at the end of the stanza.
However, the Oilers were limited to just 10 points in the second quarter, allowing Rezlife to surge ahead and take a seven-point lead into halftime.
The Oilers returned from the locker room with renewed momentum, opening the third quarter with a 9–0 run that handed them a narrow two-point lead heading into the final period.
Fayed Baale was flawless from the free-throw line to conclude the game thus helping the Oilers stretch their advantage to six points by the end of the period.
Joseph Chuma was instrumental in the Oilers’ victory, posting a double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds.
Micheal Otieno led all scorers with 24 points, while Acinbaai Takpinyi added 10 points—the only Saints to reach double figures.
