Striker Samuel Kayongo Ssekamate bagged a brace as UPDF FC mounted a spirited comeback to edge Maroons FC on Wednesday.

The Armed Forces derby played in Bombo saw Maroons take the lead at halftime but a spirited performance by hosts UPDF FC guided them to a 2-1 win.

The Prison Warders took the lead in the 17th minute with Rogers Kiwanuka converting from the spot.

However, UPDF returned recharged after recess with Ssekamate drawing the game level in the 76th minute.

The veteran forward got the winner with a minute on the clock to secure all three points for the army side.

The win takes them up to 32 points in tenth place and gives them a good buffer from the relegation zone. On the other hand, Maroons FC remain 8th on 34 points.
