Kenya’s Samman Vohra is looking forward to advancing his rally experience as he commences his Africa rally championship adventure.

The Kenyan champion will take part in his first event outside Kenya when he tackles the Pearl of Africa rally in Western Uganda.

Samman is third on the ARC standings with 36 points after the opening round in Kenya last March.

Pearl rally is Samman’s ninth career event and he believes the event will give a whole new rally experience.

“Coming to the Pearl has been a fantastic opportunity for us as a team to look beyond motorsport in Kenya and test ourselves against other fantastic teams in the region,” he told Kawowo Sports.

“Our focus, as with any rally, remains the same. We are here to have a good steady drive with the aim of gaining more experience. This is not the time to focus on the title but to get a strong clean finish. We are in our early days of rallying, and there is a lot for me to learn,” he added.

In a Skoda Fabia Evo rally2, Samman will be in contention for ARC points along with Kenyan counterpart Karan Patel and Uganda’s Yasin Nasser.

“This our first time rallying on foreign soil. So, our approach is to take it easy, understand the surfaces, terrain and from there on, build our confidence stage by stage. Our main aim is to find a good rhythm from the start,” said Samman.

Ugandan rallies have offered a unique experience for visiting crews. Samman is keen on writing his own tale.

“I have watched rally videos from Uganda and people who have been here have briefed me on what to expect.

“They say the rally here has a fantastic atmosphere. The fans are great but I was told to be careful with fans who are so passionate and get close to the route.”

“We are happy to be here. Thanks to my family led by my brother Saveer for all the sacrifices made to get us to the start line,” said Samman.
