Saturday May 17, 2025
- Royal Park Butema, Hoima 3pm [Agg: 0-1]
Kitara will be out to avenge the first leg 1-0 deficit suffered at Kitende when they host Vipers SC at Royal Park Butema on Saturday.
Yunus Sentamu late winner decided the match two weeks ago and Kitara have all to do.
Just three days ago, they rested several of their star players in the 2-0 defeat to the same opponent in the premier league clash that literally handed the venoms their 7th league title.
Speaking to the press, Wasswa Bbosa defended the decision to field a weakened team insisting the big mission is the Cup game.
“We didn’t just give away the game but we rested several players in preparations for this cup game,” he told the media.
“We lost the first leg and are now focused on winning at home with one mission, the defend the cup we won last season,” he added.
The hosts’ undoing in the past matches in the lead up to this clash has been the profligacy in front of goal but Bbosa says a lot has been worked on.
“Our drills have been about finishing and I believe we shall get the goals on Saturday.”
The hosts are without injured Jude Ssemugabi but are buoyed by the return of Kabon Living who has spent a couple of weeks on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, Vipers come into the game not only on top from the first leg but also psychologically especially after the league triumph.
The coaching duo of Fred Muhumuza and John Ayala Luyinda will most likely ring a few changes with goalkeeper Denis Kiggundu keeping goal like he has always done in the cup this season.
With the UPL now in the bag, the Venoms led by Allan Okello and company now turn their attention to securing a double but they know they must beat Kitara to get nearer to the dream.
