UCU Canons secured a hard-fought 59-54 victory against the JT Jaguars in the National Basketball League at YMCA Court.
Elijah Adakun hit a three-pointer, giving the JT Jaguars a four-point lead (18-14) at the end of the first period.
However, a layup by Jimmy Lihumi saw the UCU Canons regain a one-point lead (32-31) heading into halftime.
In the third period, Ian Lubwama’s driving layup left the JT Jaguars trailing by five points at 43-38 as they entered the final quarter.
The last period was evenly matched, with both teams scoring 16 points each, allowing the Mukono-based UCU Canons to secure a hard-fought five-point victory.
Joel Kayira led the Canons with an impressive double-double, scoring 19 points and grabbing 13 rebounds while only Ian Lubwama (18 points) and Mark Were (15 rebounds) managed to score in double digits for the Jaguars.
