Morocco’s RS Berkane clinched a third CAF Confederation Cup trophy after drawing 1-1 with Simba in Amaan, Zanzibar on Sunday.

The result meant the Moroccans won the final 3-1 on aggregate after they had won the first leg at the Municipal stadium in Berkane 2-0.

Simba started like a house on fire and got a deserved lead through Joshua Mutale in the first half.

Veteran right back Shomari Kapombe headed over the bar before half time and Camara missed the same opportunity for the visitors at the stroke of halftime.

The game went out of Simba’s hands after Yusuf Kagoma was sent off five minutes after the break for a second bookable offence.

Despite so, Ugandan international Steven Mukwala thought he had drawn the tie level when he headed home Ahoua free kick but after a lengthy VAR check, the goal was disallowed for marginal offside.

But as Simba pushed desperately for the second goal, Soumaila Sidibe struck in additional time for the visitors to all but end the contest.

It was the other title for RS Berkane after triumphs in 2020 and 2022.
