National Volleyball League | Final

  • Game One: Sport-S Ladies 3-0 KCB Nkumba (25-21, 25-17, 25-14)
  • Game Two: KCB Nkumba 2-3 Sport-S (25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 21-25, 13-15)

Sport-S Ladies have won their first title in the Uganda National Volleyball League.

The victory came after a dramatic comeback as they fought from two sets down to secure a hard-fought 3-2 (25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 21-25, 13-15) win against KCB Nkumba at Old Kampala Arena on Sunday.

The Nsambya-based team entered the match with some room for error, having already won the series’ first game.

However, their determination in the last three sets showcased their deserving status as champions.

Nkumba took the lead by winning the first set 25-23 and then extended their advantage by winning the second set with the same score.

Just when it seemed that Nkumba would easily finish the match and level the series at 1-1, they lost momentum. This allowed Sport-S to claim the third set 25-22, igniting their comeback.

From then on, Sport-S gained confidence and forced Nkumba onto the back foot, ultimately running away with the victory.

The clinching point came when Comfort Twesiime’s spike bounced off the block and out of play, sealing the win for Sport-S.

Despite missing the services of the injured Hillary Akankunda, Sport-S’s attack effectively broke through Nkumba’s defence during their comeback.

Setter Doreen Akiteng and middle blocker Agnes Akanyo played pivotal roles in tormenting their former team, with whom they had previously won the trophy.
