KCCA will be the more desperate of the two sides when they lock horns with Vipers in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final on Saturday at Fufa stadium, Kadiba.

The Kasasiro have not lifted any silverware since 2019 when they won the Premier League and the Kagame Cup.

After not playing any final since then, also finishing below the champions in the successive seasons, they have an opportunity to put an end to that come Saturday.

“KCCA is a team with a tradition of winning trophies but it is long without one so Saturday provides us with the opportunity to win again,” interim head coach Jackson Magera told reporters.

Magera, who was part of the coaching staff that won the last title for KCCA under Mike Mutebi also gave updates on his squad revealing that all players are in fine health.

“We know the kind of opponent we face on Saturday. Luckily, all our injured players are back and we are just monitoring.”

Ettiene Katenga, Derrick Nsibambi and Mustafa Mujjuzi have missed the last few games through injuries.

Meanwhile, captain Julius Poloto, who has made a handful of appearances this season due to nagging injuries, is also fit and available.

Like Magera, Poloto believes now is the right time to end the trophy drought and the players, especially those who have around the club for long know what it means.

“We have been preparing this game for like a week or two. We know the magnitude of the game and every player is ready to give everything for the victory. We are ready and we hope to put a good show for both sets of fans,” he told reporters.

“It is important for us, especially us who have been at the club for long because it is long time without lifting any trophies and we want to win and repay the faith invested in us.”

Poloto scored the winning goal the last time the two sides met in the final in 2018 in Bukedea and will go into this one high on confidence after getting himself a brace in the last league outing against Express.

“When you score goals, it gives you confidence. Seven years ago, is a long time and this will be another game. I would love to score but the most important thing is the team victory,” he replied when asked if he is ready to repeat the heroics.
