The conclusion of the Uganda club football season is upon us, as KCCA and Vipers will go head-to-head in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final at the newly constructed Fufa stadium, Kadiba in Mengo.

KCCA have spent six seasons without winning any silverware and are seeking to regain their glory while Vipers have been perennial winners in those past years winning over six trophies and hoping to add a second league and cup double to their current glittering trophy cabinet.

Both clubs are well worth a spot in the final although the Venoms have had literally a tougher road to the final.

Besides Tepa FC (2-1) in the round of 64 and Blacks Power (3-0) in the round of 16, the Venoms have eliminated premier league sides; Mbarara City, SC Villa and Kitara.

KCCA’s route was a little easier with matches against Kataka in the semi-final, Karoo Karungi in the quarter finals, Rwenzori Lions in the round of 16, Kuluva Rainbow in the round of 32 and 403 Brigade in the round of 64.

KCCA have no injury worries ahead of the game with coach Jackson Magera revealing all players are fit and available.

Ettiene Katenga, Shafik Nana, Derrick Nsibambi, Muhamood Hassan and Sadat Anaku are fit.

Vipers will miss the services of defensive kingpin Hilary Mukundane through suspension but no injuries have been reported.

It remains to be seen why John Ayala Luyinda will be on the bench after losing his mother who was buried on Friday.

How will the teams line-up?

KCCA XI Vs Kataka | Credit: John Batanudde

KCCA have played their strongest XI in each of the matches and Magera and his staff will have a selection headache.

Mutwalibu Mugolofa is expected to start in goal with Gavin Kizito and James Mubeezi assured of slots at fullback positions.

In central defence, Filbert Obenchan is destined to start and most likely to be joined by Mustafa Mujjuzi with Mood waiting on the bench.

Joel Sserunjogi and youngster Brian Ijara to anchor the defence but Peter Magambo is another option.

Ashraf Mugume, Said Mayanja, Bright Anukani and Gabriel Joao are options to complete the midfield trio.

Usama Arafat and Emmanuel Anyama look assured to start with Shafik Nana or Gabriel joining the attack on the left-wing position.

Vipers XI Vs Kitara

For Vipers SC, Derrick Kiggundu is the first-choice candidate to start between the posts with Nicholas Wadada and Derrick Ndahiro the fullbacks while at the heart of defence, Livingstone Mulondo & Paul Torach will most likely partner.

There will be questions over who start in the middle with Marvin Youngman, Siraje Sentamu and Paul Mbowa all competing for a slot in the defensive midfield role.

Probable XI

KCCA: Mugolofa (GK), Gavin, Obenchan, Mujjuzi, Mubeezi, Sserunjogi, Ijara, Gabi, Usama, Nana, Anyama.

Vipers: Kiggundu (GK), Wadada, Mulondo, Torach, Ndahiro, Youngman, Watambala, Sukuya, Okello, Sentamu, Ogwang.
