Tournament: Kwibuka Women’s T20i Kigali
Game 1: Uganda v Cameroon
- Cameroon 40 all out
- Uganda 40/0
- Uganda won by 10 wickets
The defending champions of the Kwibuka women’s T20i tournament, Victoria Pearls, got off the mark with a thumping 10-wicket win over Cameroon.
Uganda won the toss and elected to field first, which is an easy way to win against a less experienced opponent.

Kevin Amuge and Sarah Tino were given their senior debuts, with Consy Aweko and Phiona Khulume given a rest, and Teddy Oyella, the other player to miss out.
On a very unpredictable surface, there was very little reward for the medium pacers, with the slow bowlers rewarded with wickets. Stephanie Nampiina missed out on a hat-trick, but on her return to bowling for the Victoria Pearls, she finished with figures of 3/3, with Sarah Akiteng and debutant Sarah Tino (1/5) providing the support.

In the run chase, Janet Mbabazi and Esther Iloku knocked off the requirement inside five overs to complete an emphatic and clinical performance from the defending champions.
The Victoria Pearls didn’t even need to engage second gear to pick up their 1st win of the tournament.
There is no time to reflect on the result, as they will be back in action tomorrow morning against the Zimbabwe High Performance side, which will surely test their resolve.
