Ngabi Nsamba has now won six titles following earlier victories in 1951, 1987, 2007, 2013, 2024 and lately 2025.

Bika Bya Baganda Football Championship 2025:

Ngabi Nsamba successfully defended the Bika Bya Baganda Football Shield at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Saturday, 7th June 2025.

The triumphant clan overcame Ndiga 6-5 after tense and dramatic post-match penalties after a 2-all draw in normal time.

Musa Mulindwa, Richard Matovu, Allan Bukenya,  captain Viane Ssekajugo, Junior Kikambi and Najib Yiga scored for Ngabi Nsamba in the shoot-out.

Ibrahim Bbossa, Reagan Mpande, Denis Kisiriko Luzige, Umar Lutalo, Dan “Muzeeyi” Sserunkuma scored the five penalties for Ndiga.

Issa Lumu missed his kick after a gallant save by Ngabi Nsamba goalkeeper Hassan Matovu.

During normal time, Reagan Mpande scored a brace for Ndiga.

Veteran winger Sula “Malouda” Matovu and substitute Steven Yiga netted for Ngabi Nsamba.

Mpande opened the scoring business in the fourth minute of the game.

The Sports Club Villa forward raced with the ball from the left flank before shooting past goalkeeper Hassan Matovu on the near post.

Ngabi Nsamba’s Bruno Bunyaga missed the opportunity to equalize as his header towards the closing moments of the first half kissed the crossbar.

At the start of the second half, Ndiga introduced veteran Geofrey Sserunkuma for another experienced player Simon Sserunkuma.

Sula “Malouda” Matovu brought the game level with a well-struck free-kick five minutes into the second half.

Matovu was then replaced by Steven Yiga on the hour mark.

Ndiga clan lost the services of left back Ronald “Jajja” Nkonge who was stretchered off after an injury.

Ponsiano Ssegonjja took over Nkonge’s place.

Substitute Yiga scored Ngabi Nsamba’s second goal to spark wild celebrations among the fans.

The joy was short-lived as Mpande scored the equalizer almost immediately after the restart of play to take the match into post-match penalties.

How the post-match penalties prevailed:

Ibrahim Bbosa scored the opening penalty for Ndiga. Musa Mulindwa equalized for Ngabi Nsamba.

Mpande restored Ndiga’s lead. Richard Matovu made it 2-all with a quickly taken penalty that excited many in the stands.

Denis Kisiriko Luzige scored Ndiga’s third penalty. Allan Bukenya got the equalizer for Ngabi Nsamba at 3-3.

Umar Lutalo scored Ndiga’s fourth penalty and Ngabi Nsamba captain Viane Ssekajugo made it 4-4.

Dreadlocked Dan “Muzeeyi” Sserunkuma scored the fifth penalty for Ndiga. Junior Kikambi equalized for Ngabi Nsamba at 5-5.

Issa Lumu was denied by Ngabi Nsamba goalkeeper Hassan Matovu before Najib Yiga scored the winner for Ngabi Nsamba for the successful shield defence.

The champions earned Ug.Shs 9,000,000 cash prize with Ndiga taking home Ug.Shs 7,000,000.

Meanwhile, Nsenene (Grass Hoppers) overcame Kkobe (Creeping plant) 1-0 during the third-place playoff.

Brian Masembe scored the all-important goal in the 40th minute to earn bronze and Ug.Shs 5,000,000.

The BIKA Tournament is more than just football. It is a vessel of our heritage, unity, and discipline. I congratulate Ngabi Nsamba on their victory and applaud all the participating clans for keeping our traditions alive.
