The preparations for a successful 15th Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAU) junior woodball championship have received a major financial boost to a tune of Ug.Shs 22,230,000.

The package was officially unveiled on Wednesday, 11th June 2025 at the ICPAU head offices in Bukoto, Kamwokya – Kampala.

Lydia Tusiime, manager business development at ICPAU handed over the dummy cheque to the Paul Mark Kayongo, president Uganda Woodball Federation (UwbF).

Kayongo was flanked by the General Secretary of Uganda Woodball Federation Joseph Collins Ssemanda and Sula Bukenya, regional coordinator of UwBF in Nansana Municipality.

 “We treasure the close association with ICPAU that we have enjoyed for a very long time. Uganda Woodball Federation is humbled” Kayongo revealed.

“Close to 6000 youth, seniors and corporates play the sport of woodball. Therefore, the sport has the capacity to become a fire brand. I applaud all our media partners for hyping the sport high.” Kayongo added.

Tusiime emphasized the bold reasons why they have stuck with the woodball sport for more than a decade now.

“Woodball supports strategic thinking, teamwork, eye and hand coordination. As ICPAU, we are inclinded to support strategic thinking. We are passionate and committed to supporting this cause.” Tusiime noted.

The 22,230,000 (twenty two million, two hundred and thirty thousand) sponsorship package will help in the smooth operations of the championship.

“The Arrangement is marvelous. All the playgrounds are ready to host more than 700 participants. Security is guaranteed to all participants, and we also have accommodation for the teams that will come from far” Bukenya, also a woodball coach hinted.

In 2024, the ICPAU junior woodball championship was held in Lwengo district.

The rotational strategy, according to Kayongo aligns with the federation’s core objective of promoting the sport at the grassroots level across the different regions of the country.
