JT Jaguars secured a well-deserved 61-55 victory against UCU Canons in the National Basketball League encounter at YMCA Court on Friday.
UCU Canons edged the Jaguars 59-54 in a seesaw first-round encounter. However, the Jaguars turned up with a hard-fought victory.
Jaguars put an end to UCU Canons’ three-game perfect run, including a massive victory against the KCCA Panthers.
Daniel Muganzi’s long shot beyond the arc opened a seven-point (21-14) lead at the end of the opening period.
Ian Lubwama’s long shot concluded the second period as the Jaguars trailed by a point (33-34) going into a long break.
Zachariah Ekirapa’s driving layup gave the Canons a one-point (47-46) lead at the end of the third period.
Tong Obde turned up big in the paint, denying Canons access to the rim as Jaguars ran away with a seven-point victory.
Ian Lubwama and Chuma Fadhili led the Jaguars, scoring 17 points and 14 points, respectively while Joel Kayira (12 points) was the only Canon in double figures.
