UCU Canons secured a hard-fought 63-62 victory against the Victoria Crocs in the National Basketball League encounter at YMCA Court on Sunday.
This win marks a strong comeback for Nicholas Natuhereza’s troops after losing a closely contested game against the JT Jaguars on Friday.
The Victoria Crocs took an early lead, finishing the first quarter with a score of 19-17.
The second period was low-scoring, with both teams managing only nine points. At halftime, the Crocs held a slim two-point lead at 28-26.
In the third quarter, a deep shot from Jimmy Otim concluded the period, leaving the Canons trailing by three points, 50-47.
However, Marvin Jesse Okurut’s long-range shot in the final seconds clinched the victory for the Canons.
Leading the Canons in scoring were Jimmy Otim with 16 points and Zachariah Ekirapa with 11 points.
Choul Nyuot topped the scoring with 20 points, while Joshua Maiba contributed 11 points for the Crocs.
