  • Uganda 5-0 South Sudan

Uganda’s Women’s Football National Team, the Crested Cranes registered a resounding 5-0 victory over South Sudan in the CECAFA Women’s Championship in Tanzania.

This impressive win came as a perfect response following their 0-1 loss to Burundi in the opening match of the tournament.

Sylvia Kabene was the standout player, scoring a hat-trick, while Shamirah Nalugya and Zainah Namuleme also contributed to the team’s goal tally.

Kabene got the scoring started in the sixth minute, and just four minutes later, Nalugya doubled the lead.

Namuleme then extended Uganda’s advantage in the 16th minute by converting a well-timed penalty kick after being fouled in the box by South Sudan’s Ludia Maika.

Kabene completed her hat-trick in the first half by scoring again in the 22nd and 34th minutes.

Although South Sudan improved their play in the second half it was too late to make any amends.
