The Uganda National Women’s Football team, Crested Cranes, suffered a 0-4 loss against Kenya in the CECAFA Women’s Championship in Tanzania.
Crested Cranes suffered their second loss in three games in the ongoing championship.
They began brightly, knocking on the door often, but were unlucky in placing the ball into the back of the net.
On the other hand, Diana Wacera placed Kenya ahead in the 18th minute with a dropping header that left the goalkeeper Lillian Nakiirya helpless.
Ten minutes later, Dorcus Sikobe extended Kenya’s lead with a simple touch in the area as Uganda’s backline failed to clear its lines.
With minutes left in the first stanza, Violet Wanyonyi made it three for Kenya as the speedy forward’s effort went past the oncoming Nakiirya, who was just steps off the goal line.
In the second stanza, Uganda tried to respond through Sylivia Kabene but Kenya’s custodian Lillian Onyango was up to the test.
Martha Emedot added salt to Uganda’s wounds as she netted the fourth for the flying Harambe Stars.
Uganda is set to conclude the campaign against Tanzania which managed to thrash Burundi 6-0.
