UCU Lady Canons secured a hard-fought 71-67 against JKL Lady Dolphins in the National Basketball League at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The Lady Canons saw off a short-handed JKL Lady Dolphins team that missed the services of Evelyn Nakiyingi, Becky Longom, Ritah Imanishimwe and Flavia Oketcho.
Hajara Najjuko’s layup concluded the opening period as the UCU Canons opened a one-point (20-19) lead.
Zainah Angella Lokwameri’s long shot concluded the second period and the JKL Lady Dolphins trailed by three points (41-38).
Milicent Otieno dropped two long shots in the third period as the UCU Lady Canons registered a six-point (62-56) lead at the end of the quarter.
Despite the JKL Lady Dolphins’ fight, the Lady Canons secured a four-point victory.
Sylvia Nantongo was instrumental in the Lady Canons’ victory after dropping 16 points and pulling down 12 rebounds in a double-double.
Hope Akello (31 points) and Tamasha Nsubuga (13 points) were the only Lady Dolphins to reach double digits.
