The curtains for the 2025 Buganda Masaza football competition will majestically be raised as the defending champions, Buddu, hosts the record winners, Gomba at Kitovu Sports Arena, on Saturday, 21st June 2025.

A mammoth gathering is anticipated at this contest that will kick off at 3 pm.

Buddu, under head coach Eric Kisuz,e managed to retain a couple of players from last season’s winning squad as Mike Waraga and Joseph Kayondo.

“I rally the fans of Buddu to come and cheer us. The mission to defend the trophy” Buddu captain Kayondo.

They managed to capture stylish Nicholas Junga from Kabula, Ivan Kanda (Mawokota) among others with a notable absentee Pius Ssebulime who was signed by Mawokota.

Buddu hired the services of Eric Kisuze as head coach from Kabula after a stellar season.

“We shall work for a positive start at home. We anticipate three points because we prepared well and all the players are in the best shape. I call upon all Buddu fans from across the country to come and rally the team,” Kisuze remarked.

Record winners Gomba also hired a couple of new players as Herbert Onen (Buddu), Joseph Ssewaali (Ssingo), Michael Abura (Mawokota) and others.

“We shall give our best against Buddu. The preparation has been superb and we are all in shape, apart from one of our players (Sulundu) who broke the leg in the friendly against Mawokota,” Gomba skipper Onen remarked.

Masaza Bundles were introduced for the fans. The new monthly all network connection bundles of 15000/=, 30,000/= and 50,000/= shall be a three in one comprising Minutes, Data and SMS bundles. . Gomba Lions head coach Simon “Dunga” Ddungu has expressed readiness to encounter the opposition, away from home.

“We are determined to cause a stir in Masaka. Gomba is Gomba. We are winners and set for the best against Buddu. The players are set and we have one major injury for Sulundu who returns after a long time. I ask the people of Gomba to come and support us,” Simon Ddungu, Gomba head coach, remarked.

The tournament is sponsored by Airtel Uganda, Plascon, Centenary Bank, Uganda AIDS Commission, Pilsner King beer, among others.
