Jinja Rally launch

The fourth round of the national rally championship heads to Eastern Uganda. And it is expected to bring about an exciting experience for the rally enthusiasts.

Dubbed Hon. Amos Lugoloobi Stabex EMC Rally is slated for July 10-12 and will go through Jinja and Kayunga districts.

For the first time, Jinja rally will include a night stage; a thrill for the day one itinerary.

“Our main focus is to revamp the rally experience in the East. We looked at the itinerary and it was fit and safe for a night stage,” said the EMC President, Kees Kagolo.

“For day one, we have minimised the fans movement. They will all be in one place where they will catch the action the whole afternoon until the night stage,” he added.

Five stages will be covered on Friday, including a new double super special stage at Kitigoma in Jinja. The stages are fully closed.

“We would like to thank Hassan Alwi, a fellow competitor who gave us land to run part of the day one itinerary, including the super special stage.”

“The land is big enough to run fully closed sections. This will support our safety for the event,” said Kagolo.

However, the Clubman Rally Championship category was excluded from the night stage.

Five stages will be covered on Saturday to seal a total competitive distance of 154.46 kilometres for the two days.

Meanwhile, driver Hassan Alwi also unveiled his newly acquired Ford Fiesta Proto. He will debut the car in the same event.

Ronald Sebuguzi will head into the fourth round leading the NRC standings with 142 points; 9.5 points more than second-placed Musa Ssegaabwe while Ponsiano Lwakataka sits third with 117 points.
