- Young Africans 2-0 Simba
Young Africans claimed a fourth successive Tanzania Premier League title after beating rivals Simba 2-0 at the full to capacity Benjamin Mkapa stadium on Wednesday.
Needing a point to finish above Simba, Young Africans got the goals in the second half with danger man Pacome Zouzoua and Clement Mzize getting on the score sheet.
The game featuring two Ugandan internationals who started for their respective clubs saw Cranes captain Khalid Aucho coming out on top at the expense of Steven Mukwala’s Simba.
The result meant that Aucho’s side cemented top spot with 82 points, four better than second placed Simba as the league ended with Young Africans now on 31 titles.
The clash was officiated by Egyptian match officials and either set of fans left satisfied.
Young Africans have now won five of the last derby meetings with Simba and extended their overall dominance in this fixture with a 42nd win against Simba’s 32 in 114 matches since 1965.
