It has been a busy season for the Kyadondo Rugby Club’s age-grade program. From competing at the Ndume 7s one week ago, to now the Under 15s hitting the road for the Turi 7s this Friday and Saturday, hosted by St. Andrew’s Senior School, Turi in Nakuru.

The tournament is going to feature 16 boys’ teams, divided into 4 groups, while the girls’ competition shall have 8 teams divided into two groups.

All the teams set to compete are from both Kenyan private and public schools, with the two Kyadondo Academy teams being the only competitors from Uganda.

The objectives for Kyadondo ahead of this tournament are quite clear: to give young players opportunities to express themselves and to create a pathway for the Kyadondo senior teams, the Buffaloes, Heathens and Thunderbirds.

Whereas winning the Turi 7s is the ideal outcome, Kyadondo’s Saddam Geoffrey has his sights on the bigger picture.

“We are focusing on having fun and giving each player an opportunity to express themselves,” noted Saddam.

The Turi 7s will see the top 2 teams in every group in the boys category proceed to the Cup quarter final stage while for the girls, the top 2 sides go straight to the semis.

On their return, the Saturday morning sessions shall continue while the Kyadondo management continues to seek new tournament opportunities and continues encouraging the youngsters to stay in school.
