Allan Okello made a courtesy visit to Twinbrook school in Bamba - Kiteezi, held closed door talks with the school director Hajji Jaffari Ssenganda before he engaged the youngsters.

Uganda Cranes and Vipers’ talisman Alan “Jolly” Okello happily celebrated his 25th birthday with young players at Twinbrook schools.

Okello had a fun-time with the juniors, smiling with them as he shared a few motivational tips.

“Be disciplined” he started during a brief motivational talk session to the academy players at Twinbrook schools.

“Always respect your coaches and pray at all times” he added with his customary deep voice.

Okello made a courtesy visit to the school in Bamba – Kiteezi, held closed door talks with the school director Hajji Jaffari Ssenganda before he engaged the youngsters.

He was involved in a question and answer session with the young players where they asked him varying questions ranging from conduct, football tactics and personality.

“I play midfield and sometimes I am a number 10. You can also juggle different positions on the field of play” Okello responded to a question on his favourite position.

Okello’s visit to Twinbrook School followed the earlier engagement that the reigning MTN FUFA female footballer of the year Zainah Nandede had at the school.

Hajji Jafari Ssenganda, director of the Twinbrook schools is a pro-sports person and insists on grassroots development of talent as a feeder for many sports disciplines in this country.

“I love sports. This is the reason I have put programs for different games to be played as young as 5 years. We need to develop talents at this young age” he advised.

Besides football, Twinbrook schools is also involved in Netball, Basketball, Swimming, Table Tennis and other indoor games.

Former Uganda Cranes captain Denis Masinde Onyango and Zainah Nandede are also brand representatives for the school.

Qualified coaches:

Twinbrook soccer academy has a number of qualified coaches; Abdul Hakim Kibirango (head coach), Zaina Namukasa (coach), Abubakar Kajjubi (coach), Fahadi Ssekandi (coach), Joseph Ssettimba (coach), Hannington Fahad Nyakahuma (coach), Pius Kadapo (coach) and Joseph Kigozi (goalkeeping coach).

There are technical personnel overseeing the project as Mubarak Tenywa, Patrick Ssenfuka and Nimrod Kintu.

Twinbrook Soccer Academy has three playgrounds at Bamba – Kiteezi.

Two grounds are on artificial grass with four more coming up on natural grass.
