CAF has increased funding for the 130 clubs participating in the Caf Champions League and Confederation Cup to USD 100,000 each, with Vipers and NEC set to represent Uganda in the competitions.

Uganda’s representatives in the Caf inter-continental competitions come next season Vipers and NEC are in line to benefit from Justice Damaseb report on Governance Compliance by CAF.

The respected Deputy Chief Justice of Namibia in a report advised that CAF increases funding to over 130 clubs that participate in the Caf Confederation and Caf Champions League come 2025/26.

In a media statement released by CAF, Dr. Patrice Motsepe the Caf boss said: “CAF is very pleased with the Governance Compliance Committee Report on governance non-compliance or weaknesses within the CAF Secretariat and will implement the governance recommendations that are contained in this Report.

“The Chairman of this Committee, Justice Damaseb will work with the globally respected firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers to ensure that CAF implements and adheres to global governance best practices.

“I am very happy with the processes underway to increase by 100% CAF’s financial contributions to each of the approximately 130 African Clubs that participate in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup. CAF contributed for the first time last year, USD 50 000 to each Club. Each Club should now receive USD 100 000.”

Vipers will carry Uganda’s flag in the Caf Champions League while NEC will make their debut in the Caf Confederation Cup.
