Eastern Uganda will be the home of rally enthusiasts this weekend as they witness the battle for rally supremacy yet again.

The Bugerere Stabex EMC Rally is the fourth round of the national championship which brings the calendar to midway.

The rally starts on Friday in Jinja.

The event is expected to create a clearer vision for the title contenders with three rounds left.

Championship-chasing crews in the different categories are expected to produce some thrills with the aim of stretching the points lead over their rivals.

The stakes will be high for three-time national champion Ronald Sebuguzi in the Ford Fiesta Proto. Sebuguzi currently leads the championship with 142 points.

Sebuguzi has Musa Ssegaabwe in a Mitsubishi Evo9 breathing down his neck.

The NRC newbie has continued to impress and currently sits second on the leaderboard, 9.5points off first place.

After missing out on points in the Pearl rally in May, Ponsiano Lwakataka returns with more fight in his drive. Maximum points may bring him back in the championship fight.

Duncan Mubiru will be giving the Ford Fiesta Proto a second outing since its return to Uganda.

But the notable entry this weekend is Hassan Alwi who will give his newly acquired Ford Proto its first competitive drive. A victory could spice the race for this year’s championship.
