Kampala Quality Primary School (KQPS) hosted a successful annual 2025 Inter-House Sports Day at the KQ Sports Complex near the Bahai Temple.

This year’s event was themed “Empowering Athletes for Sportsmanship and Academic Excellence, inspiring greatness on and off the field,”.

It underscored Kampala Quality Primary School’s commitment to fostering holistic development, teamwork, and resilience within its student body and the greater community.

Four houses—Parrots, Nightingales, Peacocks, and Sparrows—competed in a vibrant display of athleticism, teamwork and school spirit, leaving an indelible mark on students, teachers and parents alike.

The day kicked off at 8:00 am with a spirited community road run.

House captains led enthusiastic chants, igniting house pride, followed by a dynamic warm-up and track session at the main sports complex.

From 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM, the morning session saw students from Years 1-6 compete in track and fun events.

Highlights included the thrilling 100m sprints, 4x100m relays, and the crowd-favorite sack
races, with the Parrots clinching victory in the Stiletto Hula Hoop race, followed closely by the Nightingales.

Each house showcased remarkable talent, with volunteers meticulously recording times to award points fairly.

The Midday Session (11:00 AM–12:30 PM) shifted to fun and teamwork, featuring tug-of-war, obstacle course relays and egg-and-spoon races.

Students rotated through stations, their cheers echoing across the complex, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship.

After a lively lunch break filled with music, face painting, and sports trivia, the Afternoon Session (1:30 PM–2:30 PM) focused on inclusive events like long runs and target throws, ensuring every student participated, regardless of ability.

Physical Education (PE) teacher David Okello noted, “Adapting events for all abilities made this day truly special.”

The Three-Legged Race for Years 3-6 sparked laughter and applause, emphasizing
fun over competition.

The closing ceremony at 2:30 pm was a heartfelt finale, with the principal; Dr. Kasisiri announcing house points and presenting the coveted “House Spirit Award” for sportsmanship and enthusiasm.

Certificates and medals honored top performers and a group photo captured the day’s joy. Parent Michael Ssengo praised the organization;

“The safety measures and inclusivity were impressive. My daughter felt like a champion!” Staff member Esther Nakato added, “Watching the children grow in confidence is why we do this.”

The Peacocks clinched the day’s victory with a total of 859.5 points, followed closely by the Parrots with 841 points.

Safety was paramount championed by Curre Sport; the day’s sports consultancy and events management agency, with a stated first aid station and inspected equipment, while teachers ensured inclusivity, adapting events for students with special needs.
