Overview:
A total of 40 students from 10 universities were officially flagged off Germany to participate in the university sports. The students are from Makerere University, Kyambogo, Gulu, Kampala University and other universities and will participate in sports including swimming, athletics, Tennis and Table Tennis.
Uganda has sent in a strong delegation of players for the 2025 FISU Games in Germany.
A total of 40 students from 10 universities were officially flagged off Germany to participate in the university sports.

The farewell ceremony was at Cooper Chimney on the evening of 14th July 2025, presided over by the Secretary General of the National Council of Sports (NCS) on behalf of the Government of Uganda. Dr Patrick Barnard Ogwel.

Addressing the students, Dr. Ogwel urged them to be the sales-people of the country and represent it well.
You are going to these games represent Uganda not your Universities, that is why I am here, trying to develop tourism through sports, Government sends you to make friends and attract them to visit Uganda.

National Insurance Corporation (NIC) provided travel medical insurance to the team worth USD 14,750 to support in the safety and participation.

The students are from Makerere University, Kyambogo, Gulu, Kampala University and other universities and will participate in sports including swimming, athletics, Tennis and Table Tennis.
The students will leave the country on Tuesday 15th July 2025 and then head to Berlin, Bochum Duisburg and other cities in Germany.


The Games, which began in 1973, happening on two span and this is the 32nd edition and Uganda has been winning medals since the 2003 Games with missing any edition.
This year’s championship will draw over 9200 participants from more than 100 countries.
