JT Jaguars secured a hard-fought 56-55 victory against Kampala Rockets in the National Basketball League encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Sunday.
Brian Opion converted two of the three free throws in the final play of the first quarter as Kampala Rockets opened a seven-point (19-12) lead.
Aaron John Eboyu’s long jump shot beyond the arc reduced the Jaguars’ deficit to one point (29-30) going into the halftime break.
Coming from the locker rooms, the Rockets were limited to only nine points as the Jaguars opened a six-point (45-39) lead going into the final period.
George Agasi converted two of the three free throws as the Jaguars took a one-point (56-55) victory on the day.
The nail-bitting finish raised the temperature among some of the Rockets’ fans who attempted to attack the officials.
Aaron Eboyu (19 points), Peter Sifuma (11 points) and George Agasi (10 points) led the Jaguars’ scoring chart in double digits.
