Naalya-based running club Gutsy hosted runners from Kampala and nearby areas for a mini-marathon ahead of the highly anticipated Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon. The marathon set off at the Metroplex Shopping Mall in Naalya.

The marathon, which consisted of 16km and 10km, ran from Naalya to Namboole, then to Kyambogo, and back to Naalya. It attracted more than 50 runners from different clubs like Run for Life from Bwebajja. The route was designed to give a feel of the Kasese route.

Amos Wekesa, the brain behind the Kasese Marathon, emphasized the readiness of the organisers. He mentioned that more than 28 countries have registered for the marathon, and scouts will be coming in to pick talent from the Pearl of Africa.

The 4th edition of the marathon will see a few changes designed to make the experience and tourism better for the runners. This was broken by Marine when she speaking to the runners after the run this morning. One of the changes will be the routes for the 5km and 10km. However, the 42 and 21km won’t be affected.

This year’s Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon will take place on Saturday, 23rd August 2025 in Kasese, and tickets are being sold at Ugx. 60,000.
