Uganda is honored to host the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024).

CHAN is a premier continental football tournament under Confederation of African Football (CAF) played by the players who feature in the respective local leagues.

Uganda will play-host to all the group C countries; Algeria, Niger, Guinea, South Africa and the hosts, Uganda Cranes.

This prestigious event will bring together national teams, CAF, FIFA, FUFA officials & thousands of fans from across Africa.

Impact on Traffic flow:

SP Michael Kananura, the community liaison officer and public relation officer in the directorate of traffic and road safety addressed the journalists at the Uganda Media Center on Wednesday, 30th July 2025.

“Heavy traffic is expected around Kampala, Entebbe & all key venues due to team movements, training sessions, & matches. Plan your movements on time and I encourage you to follow instructions given” SP Kananura revealed.

Training Grounds:

There are five training grounds in Kampala that will be used by the teams as Mandela National Stadium Annex (Namboole), Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium, Kampala International School Uganda (KISU) Grounds (Bukoto), FUFA Grounds (Kadiba Mengo) and Kyambogo University Playground.

Main Travel Routes:

The main travel routes has the main road from Entebbe International Airport to:

  • Speke Resort : Entebbe Expressway → Kajjansi → Munyonyo
  • Mestil Hotel: Expressway → Northern Bypass → Yusuf Lule Road → Mukwano Road
  • Serena Hotel: Expressway → Northern Bypass → Yusuf Lule Road → UBC Roundabout
  • Speke Resort: Expressway → Kajjansi Interchange → Munyonyo
  • Skyz Hotel: Expressway → Northern Bypass → Kira Road → Bukoto

Traffic Diversions

  • Naalya: Trucks diverted to Kyaliwajjala–Ssonde
  • Seeta: Trucks redirected to Namugongo
  • Kinawataka: No truck access to Kireka
  • Bweyogerere: Vehicles rerouted to Kinawataka Rd (Jokas Hotel)
  • Kireka Trading Centre: No vehicle access from Hared Petrol Station
  • Kireka–Jokas stretch: Pedestrians only

Parking

  • VIP Parking: Southern Wing (Mandela Stadium) – Accredited Vehicles Only
  • General Parking: Directed by Traffic Police, Accreditation required for all vehicle entries
