Uganda Cranes will be locking horns with Algeria in the highly anticipated African Nations Championship encounter at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Monday.
Speaking to the press, Algeria head coach Madjid Bougherra revealed that he anticipated a tough challenge from the Mandela National Stadium.
“We know it will be a very tough game, especially with the Ugandan fans behind their team,” he stated.
“I’m happy to start with this kind of game. It puts us straight into the competition. Uganda will do everything to make their fans happy and we match that same desire,” he added.
Despite looking decent in the previous CHAN tournaments, the gaffer suggested they should not be regarded as one of the favourites.
“Every competition is different. We are not favourites. There are many strong teams here so we are taking game by game.”
In the last 16 games played against Algeria, Uganda has won five and lost seven.
Uganda Cranes was pitted in C alongside, Algeria, Guinea, Niger and South Africa.
