Uganda Silverbacks is ready to make a lasting impression at the upcoming AfroBasket final which throw off on Tuesday, August 12.
Drawn in Group D alongside Senegal, Mali, and Egypt, Uganda will be keen to make history with anticipated brave performances.
Among the new additions on the team is Rugette Tejan Joel, who earned the title of Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the recent FIBA Africa U-18 Zone V qualifiers.
Other newcomers to the team include Lubowa Naseef and Christopher Mubiru. Emmanuel Mugenga takes the place of Jacksen Mori, who was not cleared in time by FIBA.
Fayed Baale, Ivan Muhwezi, and Joel Kayiira are the only home-based players who made the final cut for the team.

The team had a training camp in South Africa before they connected to Angola for the championship for the event which starts on 12th August 2025.
“With the group of players called, I am confident that we are going to do a great job because we have to represent the country in the best way,” he concluded.
Youngster and centre, Kayira, acknowledges that he is very excited and ready to do his best after receiving the call to the National Basketball team.
“This is a testament that young talents can be given a chance to showcase in the national team. So this will push more players to work hard and be ready for selection. We have done some training sessions but believe that the intensity will get better as the professionals join the group” Kayira remarked.
