The new kit for the upcoming Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon was officially launched at the Uganda Breweries HQ in Luzira on Thursday, 7th August 2025.
The launch was graced by several officials from Uganda Breweries led by Catherine Ndungu (Marketing and Innovations Director), Joseph Njoroge (Finance and Strategy Director), Amos Wekesa (Director Equator Hikes), sponsors’ representatives; among others.

Predominately green, this kit was described as an inspiring one, modern, dynamic and a purely Ugandan running kit.
It is a symbol of ambition and life living with the front having the gigantic mountain Rwenzori glaciers.

The treasured Black-Yellow-Red colours of the Uganda national flag are printed on the righ sleeve of the shirt.
The back has all the sponsors and supportive partners with the headline Tusker Lite, Standard Chartered Bank, Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Rwenzori Natural Mineral water, Britam Insurance, UCC and Explore Uganda.

The 2025 Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon stands to be its most impressive edition yet: nearly 6,000 runners from up to 50 countries, heightened global and government engagement, eco-conscious operations, vibrant race events, and major impacts on local economic and tourism horizons.
Registration for the 2025 Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon is still open at UGX 60,000 for East African citizens and residents, and USD 60 for international participants.

The first edition of the marathon held in 2022 attracted 800 participants and the 2023 edition saw over 2,000 participants from 17 nationalities.
This year’s edition saw the numbers increasing to 3,700 participants from over 30 nationalities.

It has not only brought global attention to the Kasese region but also revitalised the town, the tourism industry and contributed to significant infrastructure development.
Roads have been fixed to accommodate the influx of participants and visitors, and local hotels have expanded to meet the growing demand.
The marathon has created nonstop action for local business owners, with restaurants, shops, and service providers all benefiting from the increased traffic.

As Equator Hikes, the event organizers, look to the future, their goal remains clear; to elevate the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon to international prominence.
“The vision is to make this marathon one of the world’s premier sporting events, attracting elite athletes and adventure seekers from across the globe. The long-term benefits for Kasese and Uganda as a whole are immense, from boosting tourism to driving economic growth,” said Amos Wekesa, Equator Hikes Director.

Every runner who completes the race in the different category will be rewarded with the finisher’s medal.
