CHAN 2024 (Group A):

Morocco defeated the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) 3-1 in Group A at the 2024 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) on Sunday, 17th August 2025 at the Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi.
Oussama Lamlioui netted a brace, and Mohamed Hrimat added a penalty for Morocco.
Japhte Kitambala scored the consolation for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Lamlioui opened the scoring business as early as the 8th minute.
Kitambala brought the game level on the stroke of halftime as the opening stanza ended 1-all.
Hrimat restored Morocco’s lead in the 70th minute before Lamlioui made it three with ten minutes to play.
Lamlioui watched on in disbelief when his goal for a would-be hat-trick was cancelled for offside in the 85th minute.
Morocco finishes with 9 points in Group A, one behind leaders Kenya.
Kenya edged Zambia 1-0 with Ryan Ogam scoring in the 75th minute at the Moi International Sports Centre – Kasarani, Nairobi.

CHAN is played by players who feature in the respective domestic leagues on the African continent.
CHAN 2024 was delayed from the year 2024 and pushed forward to 2025.
Now in the 8th edition, the tournament is being played in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar.
This is the first time that three countries are co-hosting the CHAN tournament, a precursor to the AFCON 2027 championship that will also be staged in East Africa.
