Ryan Ogama scored midway the second half as Kenya overcame Zambia 1-0 at Kasarani to confirm top spot in Group A of the TotalEnergies Africa Nations Championship.
The forward received a decent ball from Muchiri inside the area, turned on his strong left and fired past Kalumba in Zambia’s goal to send the sizeable crowd into frenzy.
It was similar to the goal he struck against Morocco as the Harambee Stars finished on 10 points and bagged more 2.5 Ksh on their account for the victory that now sets them a tie with Madagascar at Kasarani in the quarter finals.
Morocco needed an efficient performance against a determined DR Congo to win 3-1 at Nyayo stadium.
The victory put them on 9 points, one, three better than the Leopards who are now out of the tournament.
The Atlas Lions will travel to Dar es Salaam for the quarter finals where hosts Tanzania, who topped group B are lurking.
Oussama Lamlaoui scored a brace while Mohamed Hrimat got the other goal for the two-time champions turning Kitambala’s goal into a mere consolation for Otis Ngoma’s lads.
