It is confirmed that Uganda Cranes will face the CHAN defending champions, Senegal, in the quarterfinals of the 2024 edition at Mandela National Stadium on Saturday, 23rd August 2025.
The development was affirmed on Tuesday after the completion of the Group D matches, where Senegal finished second behind Sudan.
A ten-man Senegal and Sudan settled for a goalless draw in their final group match played at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
Mbaye Yaya Ly was red-carded for Senegal in the closing moments of the game.
Although both countries ended the campaign on five points apiece, Sudan topped the group with a superior goal difference.
This is the first time ever that Uganda has qualified for the quarterfinals of the CHAN tournament since its inception.

Sudan will thus face Algeria in the other quarterfinal.
Meanwhile, Nigeria registered their first victory of the campaign with a 2-0 win against 10-man Congo at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, Dar es Salaam.
Nasarawa Football Club forward Anas Yusuf and Alimi Sikiru (of Ramo Stars) scored in the 56th and 93rd minutes, respectively.
Congo had defender Charles Atipo red-carded in the 92nd minute.
Nigeria had lost their opening two matches against Sudan and Senegal.
