Record winners Busoga College Mwiri were given a scare on Matchday 1 of the Boys’ Schools Cricket Week by St Joseph’s College Layibi, but their experience was sufficient for them to secure a three-wicket win.
St Joseph’s College Layibi offered some resistance in defence of their low total, but the extras gifted to Mwiri ultimately let them down and denied them a memorable win.
Central region champions Shree Sahajanand picked up two wins on the day against Rwenzori High in the morning and Good Heart SSS in the afternoon. Two great wins for the Kampala school that have put them in pole position to finish among the top 2 in Group A.
South West Champions Masaka SSS made light of Good Heart SS to win their first game of the tournament, while hosts Nyakasura School fought hard to dispatch St John’s SS Mukono.
Aga Khan and Masindi SS played out the game of the day with over 300 runs in their game. U-19 national player Abraiz Ali (79) was the pick of the batters for Aga Khan as they posted the highest total of the tournament so far of 156. Masindi SS never backed down from the fight and only fell short by 13 runs in the run chase.
