Gerald Olipa lit up Day 3 of the Boys Schools Cricket Week championship in Fort Portal with a 42-ball century (118 off 42 balls) that included nine boundaries and nine maximums.
He was complemented by a half-century from Eric Mukisa (66) as the record champions Busoga College Mwiri piled 253/4, on the highest score of the tournament so far.
Mwiri showed no mercy to their fellow Easterners, St James, who did not attempt to hunt down the big total falling short by as many as 198 runs.
Jinja SS recovered from yesterday’s surprise loss to Ntare to defeat Good Heart SS, while the hosts, Nyakasura, also recovered from a loss to Mwiri to beat a resilient Aga Khan High School.
Aga Khan fell along the way to Busoga College Mwiri in the afternoon; a loss that hurts their chances of making the semifinals in a very tight Group B.
Newcomers Masindi SS continue to impress, picking up two wins against St Joseph’s College Layibi and St James SS on Day 3. They were able to manage a big total of 154 against St James, which will give them more confidence as we get close to the business end of the tournament.
Shree Sahajanand continues to control Group A with another commanding victory against Kira College Butiki, maintaining their 100% record so far. St John’s High School, Kauga, remains the other unbeaten side in Group A, and their clash between the two schools could decide who will top the group.
Gulu High had two big wins on Matchday 3 that moved them into second place in Group A, which keeps them in the race to secure a semifinal place for the first time.
