St Noa Girls Secondary School Zana successfully defended the Basketball (5×5) and football (girls) trophies during the recently held 2025 FEASSA Games in Kakamega county, Western Kenya.

The Wakiso zone based sports giant overcame rivals Kawempe Muslim 1-0 in the girls’ football finale and also won in convincing fashion over St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende during the Basketball final.

The triumphant players each received a Hi sense brand Refrigerator.

This was during a welcome dinner organized at the school on Monday evening as the school management officially received the two trophies.

“These are lifetime experiences.” Herbert Walusimbi, the principal school director echoed as he received the trophies.

The ability to defend these two titles is a big milestone. This should not be the end. Success does not stop here. We need to build on what we have achieved, to achieve more. Every team player must accept criticism. This success was planned for a very long period of time. We have been patient, we have been building. I thank the athletes, coaches. It is not coming out of luck. We have been preparing. There has been steady development.

Bushira Namayanja, the captain of the Basketball team lauded the fellow players, coaches, support staff and the school management at large for the special roles in witnessing this feat.

“The success to defend the Basketball title was purely a result of team work. I thank my fellow players, coaches, support staff and the school administrators for the push given unto us” Namayanja remarked.

Lillian Nakirya, the best goalkeeper at the FEASSA Games 2025 who also doubles as the team captain at St Noa Girls heaped the praise on fellow team members.

“Football is never a one man’s game. We joined hands as the whole team to make it happen. I am humbled for the collective teamwork” Nakirya remarked.

The head teacher Martin Nsubuga congratulated the successful sportswomen and swiftly reminded them of the academic chores that await them.

“At St Noa Girls, we strike a balance between classwork and sports; where we excel equally. I congratulate the successful sports teams in basketball and football. We have designed special academic programs for the sportswomen to help them catch up with the rest of the students. We need to celebrate academic success when the results are back in 2026” Nsubuga added.

Stand-out footbal players as Lillian Nakirya and Namuwaya Mayimuna (goalkeepers), Slyvia Kabene, Imeda Kasemire and Nalumu Sumayiyah have shone brightest.
