Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Joseph Put has included eleven of the CHAN 2024 team players in the mainstream national team ahead of the forthcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers in Group G.

The forwards on the team are Allan Okello, Patrick Jonah Kakande, Reagan Mpande and Jude Ssemugabi.

The locally based players are expected to give their best foot forward to compete for slots on the team.

The 28-man provisional team also has St Johnstone burly forward Karl Anthony Uchechukwu Mubiru Ikpeazu, Vietnam-based Joseph Mpande, AC Hackens’ striker John Paul Dembe (Sweden), Rogers Mato (Macedonia) and Rwanda-based forward Denis Omedi (APR).

Toby Sibbick, Herbert Bockhorn, Jordan Obita, Aziizi Kayondo, Elio Capradossi and Elvis Bwomono are the foreign-based defenders on the team.

Legendary goalkeeper Denis Onyango returns from retirement, with South African-based goalkeeper Salim Omar Magoola also making a return alongside Nafian Alionzi.

Uganda Cranes face Mozambique on 5th September 2025 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

Three days later, Uganda Cranes will play Somalia on 8th September 2025 at the same venue.

As per the current table standings, Algeria currently leads Group G with 15 points.

The North Africans are followed by Mozambique on 12 points.

Botswana and Uganda each have 9 points, with Guinea on 7 and Somalia earning a single point.
