The 2025 Johnnie Walker Uganda Ladies Open tees off on Thursday at the par-71 Lugazi Hills Golf and Country Club.

The three-day 54-hole tournament that runs until Saturday has a strong contingent from Tanzania, Kenya, and Rwanda.

Iddi Madina Hussein returns to defend the title she won last year at Entebbe Club and is one of the favourites. The Tanzanian comes into the tourney on the back of success at the Uganda Golf Club Ladies Open. She will tee off at 10:30 a.m. alongside Resty Nalutaaya and Shadia Nanduga.

Three-time Uganda Ladies Open winner Martha Babirye, who is among the favourites for the title, will be playing on a course she has already netted victory on this year, having won the POA Ladies Tour. Babirye will tee off at noon alongside Asley Awor, Connie Nshemereirwe, and Catherine Wabomba.

Other challengers include 2018 winner Neema Olomi, from Arusha Gymkhana Golf Club, and will tee off with Lillian Koowe and Grace Newumbe.

The 2025 Kenya Ladies Open Match Play winner, Ashley Awuor from Royal Nairobi Golf Club, will play alongside long-hitter Meron Kyomugisha and Joyce Kissembo.

Mercy Nyanchama, from Vetlab Golf Club, will tee off alongside Uganda’s Judith Komugisha and Catherine Kwagala.

Meanwhile, the 2023 winner, Peace Kabasweka, will, for a second year running, not be part of the Ladies Open.
