Morocco has clinched a third African Nations Championship cup after a five-goal thriller.

Morocco secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Madagascar in a CHAN encounter at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Saturday.

Morocco earlier won the CHAN title in 2018 and 2020 further underlining their continental dominance in the world of football.

Felicity Manohantsoa fired Madagascar ahead in the ninth minute before Youssef Mehri three minutes to the half-hour mark.

At the stroke of the first stanza, Lamlaoui Oussama slotted the ball home to place the Atlas Lions in the driving seat.

Tokyo Rakotondire levelled matters for Madagascar in the 68th minute after a great effort in the second stanza.

With 10 minutes on the clock, Lamlaoui fired the Atlas Lions into the lead, eventually handing them the deserved victory on the day.

On top of the title, Morocco walked away with USD 3.5 million as prize money, while first-time finalists Madagascar clinched a token of USD 1.2 million.
