2nd Warm-Up Game:

  • DP Lions 158/9
  • Uganda 163/8
  • Uganda won by 2 wickets

Uganda’s Cricket Cranes worked hard to pick up their second win of their Tour to South Africa after defeating the DP Lions by two wickets.

The visitors are preparing for the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe and the tour is meant to help them get some good game time against quality opposition.

Uganda won the toss and elected to bowl against a very changed DP Lions team and they immediately took the game to the bowlers. The hosts scored runs freely but failed to build a solid partnership to post a strong total. Joseph Baguma (3/19) in three overs was the pick of the bowlers with Frank Nsubuga (1/16) and Cosmas Kyewuta (1/28) also among the wickets. The hosts finished on 159/7 in their 20 overs that included 16 boundaries and three maximums.

In the run chase, the visitors, Uganda, were reduced to 19/6 inside 5 Overs. The run chase was only repaired when Dinesh Nakrani and Riazat Ali Shah who put on 76 runs, with the captain putting on 41.

Nakrani (53) notched up a half-century together with Juma Miyagi (29) in a 59-run stand that turned the game in the favour of Uganda. Frank Nsubuga knocked off the required four runs in a nervous end and gave the visitors their second tour win.

The Cricket Cranes will play their final tour game against the Titans tomorrow before departing for Zimbabwe.
