Corporate football action

Overview:

Besides the sports events on match days, there are also activities associated with the Lira Corporate League as blood donation, tree planting and communal cleaning drives. Since inception, this league has been a viable platform of networking, rekindling old friendships, establishing new contacts and an avenue of exercising the bodies to keep fit.

The 2025 season of the Lira Corporate League is on the final bend with a couple of match days left on the card.

Decision Point leads the standings as by the latest standings with a grand total of 70 points.

The 70 points have been accumulated through football (45), Ludo (4), 3×3 ladies (5), 100M sprints (5) as well as Pool Table (11).

Celebrations during Lira Corporate League

Super Selects closely follows with 62 points fetched in football (44), Ludo (1), 3×3 ladies (4), 100M sprints (4) and Pool Table (9).

In third place is AMUKA Development SACCO with 60 points. Prisons (58) and DownTown (57) occupy the respective top five positions.

The Lira Corporate League has a total of 17 teams to include Gazelles Corporate Club, UTC Lira, DFCU Bank, Zegans Health Club, Adwarians, Vintage Lounge, Lira Town Council, Pepsi, Legends, Doctorians, FINCA and Nile Breweries Limited (NBL).

Football top scorers:

Thus far, Bonny Otyama (DownTown) leads the scorers’ charts with 9 goals. Otyama is two goals ahead of Innocent Awai (Decision Point).

Officials on duty at Lira Corporate League

Ivan Mukuve (Prisons) follows with 5 goals. Four players have each scored four goals apiece; Bonny Ajari (AMUKA Development SACCO), Danniel Okia (FINCA), Ben Okello (Zegans Health Club) and Allan Opio (Prisons).

The female top scorer is Annet Alum from DFCU Bank with two goals.

Other female scorers include Sharon Akoli (AMUKA Development SACCO), Ruth Opio (Vintage Lounge), Susan Assimwe (Prisons) and Brendah Tata (AMUKA Development SACCO) who have each scored one goal apiece.
