  • KCCA vs SC Villa – Mandela National stadium, Namboole 8pm

Eternal rivals KCCA and SC Villa face off at Mandela National stadium, Namboole this Saturday in a clash pre-occupied by doubt over the latter’s availability.

It wasn’t until Thursday that the record league champions confirmed their presence in a pre-match press conference.

Going into the game, KCCA are literally the more ready team mentally as they have already tasted 2025/26 league football with a 1-1 draw against Kitara last week.

Although the game may not mean a lot at the time with the current three-phase league format, a win is important for either side just beyond three points.

The co-coaching duo of Jackson Magera and Brian Ssenyondo are under scrutiny having had low performances in the Fufa Super 8 where they were eliminated by SC Villa, the tournament’s eventual winners.

For Villa, replicating the performance in the Fufa Super 8 will be key as it sends a message to opponents that winning the competition was never a fluke.

Serbian tactician Zeljko Kovacevic has expressed his side’s readiness for the match and wants the team to show grit against the Kasasiro.

He could unleash Patrick Kakande who has just signed a new contract with the club after he missed the pre-season competition.

KCCA have dominated this fixture with 5 wins in the last nine league meetings losing none.

In the last meeting at Namboole in the 2023/24 season, KCCA beat SC Villa 2-0 under floodlights although the 17-time champions still went on to lift the title.
