JKL Lady Dolphins secured a well-deserved 59-51 victory against UCU Lady Canons in the NBL Playoffs semifinals at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Tuesday.
The Lady Dolphins have responded perfectly after suffering a 57-46 defeat in game one of the best-of-five series.
The reigning champions corrected most of their challenges with a defensive plan pressing high, running through transitions and fighting from bad spells.
After struggling in game one, Brenda Ekone’s speed troubled the Lady Canons in the first period as the Lady Dolphins opened a four-point lead (15-11).
Ritah Imanishimwe and Hope Akello each dropped two long shots beyond the arc in the second quarter as the Lady Dolphins opened a 14-point lead going into the halftime break.
Coming from the locker rooms, the Canons came out of the blocks early narrowing down the trailing gap to seven points going into the final quarter.
Ekone’s 7-0 run created a 12-point lead (55-43) with 06:39 minutes to play in the final quarter. At the end of the day, the Dolphins took home an 8-point victory.
Brenda Ekone (16 points) and Hope Akello (16 points) led the Lady Dolphins’ in double digits.
Marina Anyango (13 points and 12 rebounds) and Sylvia Nakituuka (12 points) led the Canons in the double digits.
