Liverpool star Mohamed Salah scored twice to help Egypt qualify for the 2026 Fifa World Cup following a 3-0 win over Djibouti.

The left footed forward got the goals in the 14th and 84th minute after Ibrahim Adel had opened the scoring in the 8th minute.

Despite Burkina Faso’s 1-0 win over Siera Leone, the Pharaohs have an unassailable lead with 23 points while the Stallions are second on 18 points with just one match day left.

Burkina Faso have however qualified amongst the four-best ranked second best finishers amongst all the nine goals.

Morocco, 2022 semi-finalists and Tunisia are the other teams to have qualified already from Africa.

Elsewhere, Ghana need a point to seal qualification when they host Comoros in the final game on Sunday following their 5-0 demolition of Central African Republic.

Mohamed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, Jordan Ayew and Kamaldeen Sulemana got the goals for the Black Stars who are now on 22 points in Group I, three ahead of Madagascar who beat Comoros 2-1 away to ensure the least they can drop is be amongst the best four second placed nations.
